You will find old farm houses, you will find many beautiful Victorian homes that are both restored and not restored. So if you want a project you are sure to find a home that you can put your creative juices to work. On the opposite end of the spectrum you will find many beautiful new or updated homes.
After the mortgage meltdown there were very few new construction homes being built. But as of 2014 we are seeing many new construction homes and subdivisions popping up all over metro Detroit. You will find vacant lots being bought, and old homes being torn down in areas where the community will support a more expensive, bigger home. Areas like Bloomfield, Birmingham, Grosse Pointe, and on many lakes you will find older smaller homes on larger lots being torn down to make room for a new homes with all the latest ammenities. So what type of Southeastern Michigan home are you looking for? I feel that besides getting a mortgage pre-approval and the loan officer telling you what you can afford to buy.....you have to feel comfortable with the total payment of taxes, insurance, principal and interest. Remember you will always have expenses of maintaining your home. Furnace repairs, new windows, a new roof may be an expense that may come up in the years to come. So size and price are going to play an important part in your choice of your Southeastern Michigan home. Sometimes because of price and what you really want in a home you may have to adjust where you live in the area.
We have downriver communities like Allen Park, Trenton, Wyandotte that have many great homes ranging from 1000 to over 2000 square feet. We have communities like West Bloomfield and Northville that have good schools. You may want an affluent prestigious city like Grosse Pointe, Birmingham, or Bloomfield Township. Want a town with a central old time downtown like Rochester, Milford, or Plymouth. Or want to head to the young person's town like Royal Oak. Or maybe you want the lake lifestyle that you will find in Waterford, White Lake, or Hamburg. There are so many different communities with different character. The goal is to find one that you feel at home in.

I want you to find a home in a safe city. A city that will only have random crime. What I mean by that there are no gangs. No drive bys, no having to have security guards at the gas station to protect you from being robbed. A city that is safe for you and your family. I want you to live in a city that has good schools. Not cities that have graduation rates of 50% or lower. Those are horrible cities to send your kids to go to school at. I want your children to be prepared for college and for life. We have so many great communities that have school systems like that. Those are the towns that home buyers want to move to. Good schools usually help the home values.
So we have touched on a few items that help make a community good but let me tell you that I can go to probably 40 different cities in Metro Detroit each cities residents will tell you the city they live in is the best.
