So what type of Southeastern Michigan home are you looking for? I feel that besides getting a mortgage pre-approval and the loan officer telling you what you can afford to buy.....you have to feel comfortable with the total payment of taxes, insurance, principal and interest. Remember you will always have expenses of maintaining your home. Furnace repairs, new windows, a new roof may be an expense that may come up in the years to come. So size and price are going to play an important part in your choice of your Southeastern Michigan home. Sometimes because of price and what you really want in a home you may have to adjust where you live in the area.
We have downriver communities like Allen Park, Trenton, Wyandotte that have many great homes ranging from 1000 to over 2000 square feet. We have communities like West Bloomfield and Northville that have good schools. You may want an affluent prestigious city like Grosse Pointe, Birmingham, or Bloomfield Township. Want a town with a central old time downtown like Rochester, Milford, or Plymouth. Or want to head to the young person's town like Royal Oak. Or maybe you want the lake lifestyle that you will find in Waterford, White Lake, or Hamburg. There are so many different communities with different character. I want you to find a home in a safe city. A city that will only have random crime. What I mean by that there are no gangs. No drive bys, no having to have security guards at the gas station to protect you from being robbed. A city that is safe for you and your family. I want you to live in a city that has good schools. Not cities that have graduation rates of 50% or lower. Those are horrible cities to send your kids to go to school at. I want your children to be prepared for college and for life. We have so many great communities that have school systems like that. Those are the towns that home buyers want to move to. Good schools usually help the home values.
