The Last Steps before Closing

The buyers mortgage company has issued a clear to close.  The lender is ready to issue final mortgage documents for closing.  So what do you have to do to get ready for closing?  I will call you to set a closing date that is convenient to you and the buyer.

Your Metro Detroit home is all boxed up and ready to go. You know will have to notify the post office that you have a change of address. You have to call  the utilities to be shut off on the day that you move out. 

The title company will require you to get a final water bill so you need to call your local communities water department.  Sometimes you will need to read the meter yourself and sometimes they will send somebody out to read the meter.  The title company will hold a water escrow until the final bill is paid and a paid receipt is produced.

These are some of the last steps before closing.   Remember when you move out of your house it must be broom clean.  Broom clean means that nothing is left in the house.  No garbage at all.  Everything must be out including old paint cans, old lumber, and anything you do not want.  Just because you do not want it doesn't mean that the buyers do.  Leave your Oakland County home empty.
