I want to talk about Novi's location first.  Novi is basically at the western side of I-275 and I-696 dissects the city.  Novi's big shopping area is off Novi Rd between Grand River and 12 mile Road.  Some home buyers chose to live in Novi because of it's location.  Some people are split where they work.  One spouse may work in Ann Arbor, Brighton, or Lansing.  The other person may work in Southfield, Troy, Auburn Hills, or  some where on the east side.  Novi is sometimes the halfway point.  You may have narrowed in moving to Novi because of these reasons.  The other two big considerations of my relocation buyers is usually how are the schools, and is Novi a safe city to live in?

Novi is a safe city to live in.  The actual crime statistics may be skewed to the fact that some crime occurs in the shopping areas on Novi Road at 12 Oaks Mall and the surrounding shopping areas.  I would say that crime would be much lower if Novi did not have the huge shopping area.  If you do not know the shopping area is a huge draw for residents all over Metro Detroit.  People drive from all over to shop there.   I would definitely say that a percentage of the crime that happens in Novi happens in the stores, and shopping areas in Novi.  I believe that crime in the subdivisions and in the residential areas are even lower and even safer than Novi's crime statistics suggest. 

 Many websites say Novi is safer than 62% of U.S. cities. Though another site says over all total crime is 66% lower than the national average.  75% lower than the national average for violent crime and 64% lower for property crime than the national average.  As one Novi resident says. I love Novi! The location is perfect - about a 1/2 hour away from Detroit and Ann Arbor. There are many options for shopping, eating, and entertainment. The schools are top notch, the community is diverse, and it is very safe.  One website ranks Novi as the 7th best place to live in Michigan.   Sometimes you get different information from different websites. 

Another website gives Novi an A grade for safety and says it is even safer than other websites.  The A grade means the rate of crime is much lower than the average US city. Novi is in the 86th percentile for safety, meaning 14% of cities are safer and 86% of cities are more dangerous. This analysis applies to Novi's proper boundaries only. The rate of crime in Novi is 14.42 per 1,000 residents during a standard year.  Another website says that Novi is safer than 75% of other cities in the state of Michigan. In addition, Novi is safer than 79% of cities in the entire United States.   So the range the online websites say that Novi is from 62% to 75% safer than other cities in the nation. 

Novi is safer than the majority of cities, towns, and villages in America (62%) and also has a lower crime rate than 57% of the communities in Michigan, according to Neighborhood Scout’s analysis of FBI crime data. 

Novi is a town in Michigan with a population of 60,014. Novi is in Oakland County and is one of the best places to live in Michigan. Living in Novi offers residents a dense suburban feel and most residents own their homes. In Novi there are a lot of restaurants, coffee shops, and parks. Many families and young professionals live in Novi and residents tend to have moderate political views. The public schools in Novi are highly rated.The City of Novi was organized in 1832, and established as a city in 1969.  The median income is $80,299.
