Moving to Oakland County Michigan
Oakland County Metro Detroit's wealthiest county. So what type of communities will you find here. You will find several communities that have old time down-towns that are still very vibrant and active. Downtown areas like Milford, Ferndale, Birmingham, Royal Oak, and Rochester have festivals, music in the park, farmers markets, and so much more to bring residents and other people from surrounding communities into the downtown areas. You will find unique boutique stores, mom and pop restaurants, and coffee shops that are not national chains. That is what makes these downtown areas so unique. There are communities in Oakland County so small and that have not central down-towns that if you did not know you would think it is just part of another community. Pontiac is the questionable community with poor schools and a higher crime rates. We have communities that have no downtown areas like Highland, White Lake, West Bloomfield but have major roads that are like the down-towns because the main roads have so many stores and restaurants that there is no need for a downtown area. We have some border communities that share a boundary with Detroit. I call these border communities because some of the areas in these cities closest to Detroit have higher crime rates.

Last but not least, our lakes area. If you are relocating to Oakland County MI you will be glad to learn that we have hundreds of lakes in the county. Large lakes, small lakes. Private Lakes, lakes with public access. Lakes with state parks on them. Lakes that are quiet and have no gas motors or only allow electric motors on them. We have all sports lakes that all any type of speed boats and jet skis on them and non all sports lakes. So many lakefront properties to choose from. Even the lake homes are varied. There are still many little lake cottages on some of the lakes. Then we have quite a few luxury waterfront estates in Oakland County too. So we have everything from small lake houses to split levels, ranches, and colonials on the lakes. It is something you should check out if you are moving to the county. Remember lakefront homes are more expensive than regular homes off the water.
